This Webquest asks students to study in depth the parts and functions of either a plant or animal cell. It is to challenge the students by having them research either cell and then portraying their research in many formats. They have to convince a mad scientist that their cell needs a genetic update. In order to do this they have to research the parts and functions and creatively present their research to the scientist. This Webquest was made to be educational along with being fun.
I am a mad scientist with a powerful genetic update that can be either used on a plant or animal cell. My problem is that I don't have enough information on either cell to make a decision on which one I want my genetic update to go on. It's your job to inform me on each of the parts of the cell and it's function. This is a competition of plant and animal cell, you want to be as creative as possible presenting your information to me. Which part of the cell protects it? What is the main function of the nucleus? How are animal and plant cell different? Help me answer my questions and convince me that your cell is the cell that needs the genetic update.
